Summary

¿Estabas en el tren de las 8。04? ¿Viste algo sospechoso?

Is there any more infuriating writer than Ms Hawkins? Characters I really can’t like or care about。 First person narratives that force me to constantly check the page headings to remind me who is talking。 Time shifts that have me flipping backwards to understand the sequence of events。 But…I just couldn’t put it down! Hawkins keeps drip feeding hints and connections until everything ties together in a satisfying resolution。 And I let out a big SIGH and start to look for something less demanding。 Is there any more infuriating writer than Ms Hawkins? I thought this was okay。 I figured out the mystery about halfway through。 I also kind of thought that the book went on and on。 Not my favorite! I really used to love this type of book, but they just don't keep my interest anymore。 I thought this was okay。 I figured out the mystery about halfway through。 I also kind of thought that the book went on and on。 Not my favorite! Very good book and suspense in the end

I would give it 3。5 stars。 A guide to learn gaslighting on a pro level。Three unreliable narrators hiding all kinds of secrets made this book utterly fascinating。 It will bring out the detective in you。 Twist was not that mind-blowing but good enough to make you question if you really know people around you。 This book is so popular in the psychological thriller department so I had to read it and understand what the fuss is all about because we live in a world of relevance。 Now that I did I felt p I would give it 3。5 stars。 A guide to learn gaslighting on a pro level。Three unreliable narrators hiding all kinds of secrets made this book utterly fascinating。 It will bring out the detective in you。 Twist was not that mind-blowing but good enough to make you question if you really know people around you。 This book is so popular in the psychological thriller department so I had to read it and understand what the fuss is all about because we live in a world of relevance。 Now that I did I felt pity for people who go through all kinds of addiction。 It's funny how people who deceive other people start deceiving themselves too。 We all lie to each other and to ourselves once in a while but what if you lie all the time then what? would you start lying to yourself too? would you be able to distinguish when you're really speaking the truth or not? Or would you be wrapped up in your lies so deep that you would lose touch with reality? 。。。more

Nothing profound, but definitely an enjoyable escape。 I liked the way the story was written, with the different perspectives over time, and how everything eventually came together

WOW。 This was such a suspenseful book! Slow at first, but midway it became a much faster read。 Rachel was definitely a character in the book that had me constantly biting my nails! If only she’d properly remember what happened on many occasions or stopped drinking, she’d solved the whole mystery。

I'm going to start off with saying that I am not looking to read books that are filled with sunshine and rainbows。 The tone of the story was somber and the characters were all unlikeable, but I think that is what made this book even better。 The story was told from 3 different POV: Rachel, Anna, and Megan。 Anna and Megan have their own issues, but Rachel's main one is that she is an alcoholic and her life is completely affected by it。 If Rachel's POV were to be told in a very enthusiastic tone, w I'm going to start off with saying that I am not looking to read books that are filled with sunshine and rainbows。 The tone of the story was somber and the characters were all unlikeable, but I think that is what made this book even better。 The story was told from 3 different POV: Rachel, Anna, and Megan。 Anna and Megan have their own issues, but Rachel's main one is that she is an alcoholic and her life is completely affected by it。 If Rachel's POV were to be told in a very enthusiastic tone, wouldn't that seem wrong?? As for the unlikeable characters, the point of this book is that nobody is perfect even if they seem to be。 I was impressed that I could really feel what each character was thinking or feeling, regardless if they were the narrator or not。 Also, the portrayal of alcoholism and domestic abuse was really spot on in my opinion。 Because this is fiction, I think a lot of people forget how these things are very real in some people's lives。。。perhaps that was the author's intention to shine a light on these issues? This is honestly one of the best mystery-thriller books I have ever read。 Normally, I wouldn't react to books the way I would with a movie if there are jump scares, but man there were parts of this that literally made me jump up。 Almost made me regret staying up until 5AM to finish this book! xD I predicted part of what happened little more than halfway through the book, but I don't like the book any less because of it。 I just read enough mystery books to predict the twists in the end。 xD I'm giving this book 4-4。5 stars because there was a part where I felt the story was getting really slow, which made me not care to finish reading right away and leave the book untouched for a few days。 。。。more

I would be lying if I said I am not disappointed。 Considering this has been adapted to a blockbuster film and won a Goodreads award, I expected this to be, you know, thrilling。Whenever I read mystery novels, I always finish them in one sitting since the mystery itself keeps me on my seat。 Contrasting, this one’s kinda bores me。 All the cheating makes my head hurts。 Sure, I did not see the twist coming yet the it was poorly executed。 Usually, in a mystery novel, most, if not all chapters would le I would be lying if I said I am not disappointed。 Considering this has been adapted to a blockbuster film and won a Goodreads award, I expected this to be, you know, thrilling。Whenever I read mystery novels, I always finish them in one sitting since the mystery itself keeps me on my seat。 Contrasting, this one’s kinda bores me。 All the cheating makes my head hurts。 Sure, I did not see the twist coming yet the it was poorly executed。 Usually, in a mystery novel, most, if not all chapters would leave me hanging but in this case, the ending did it。 And it was because I am just curious as to how she moved on, with the financial problems and all that。 Sorry, but that’s just my opinion。 Nonetheless, I do love the main character Rachel, considering her alcohol addiction, she is one candid lady。 With her own insecurities, how she was countlessly gaslighted, and manipulated, I truly do feel sorry for her and couldn’t really blame her behavior。 Cathy, Rachel’s landlord and roommate is another character that I really, really like。 She is one patient and empathetic gal! Like come on, Cathy and Rachel are barely friends to begin with yet Cathy goes above and beyond to help Rachel。 Nonetheless, I did enjoy some aspect of the story though truthfully speaking, I am hesitant to pick up another story of the author。 。。。more
